Our packages
We understand that planning a funeral can be overwhelming, especially during times of grief. To alleviate some of the burden, we offer a range of thoughtfully designed all-inclusive funeral packages that cater to different preferences and budgets. Please note that the pricing information provided below is an estimate and will be confirmed with an arranger upon request.
To ensure that our package pricing is as fair and inclusive as possible, we make a point to include necessary items that across the industry are considered “extras” (often adding thousands to the cost of a funeral). In particular, we cover the cost of a coffin, hearse & coach hire, flowers, and an in house celebrant for chapel services on top of the standard professional fee in all packages.

Please note: Cremation and burial fees in funeral service packages are priced separately, as these can vary enormously and must be quoted individually.

Essentials Only Package
Starting from $3,950 (all inclusive)
The Essentials package, also known as Direct Cremation or No Service Delivery, offers a straightforward and minimalistic sequence of services. It encompasses the collection of the deceased, basic mortuary care, and placement in a simple craft-wood coffin. Legal paperwork and certificates are then processed, followed by cremation. The ashes are collected and returned to the family.
This package includes basic transfer, mortuary care, basic coffin, legal paperwork, certificates and registrations, cremation fee, as well as the costs of staff and vehicles involved in both administrative and physical processes.
All paperwork is typically handled online, and ashes can be collected from our office within a week to ten days. Alternatively, they can be mailed Australia-wide for an additional $50.
For cases from the Coroners Court or public hospitals with mortuaries, the total cost is $3,950. For cases requiring immediate transfers from homes, aged care facilities, or smaller hospitals without mortuaries the cost is typically $4,335. Additional fees may apply for rural transfers.
Optional extras may include a viewing or vigil at our Fairfield operations centre (an additional $250) or attending at the cemetery driveway to witness the hearse delivery (an additional $200).
Coffin upgrades start with the Maxwell +$250, for other coffins and prices see our coffins and caskets range.
Repatriation Packages
Starting from $5950
Lonergan and Ravens Funerals offer comprehensive repatriation services for deceased individuals. The process involves standard procedures such as transfer, mortuary care, dressing, coffining, and legal paperwork. Additional complexities include embalming, fast-tracking death registration, obtaining certificates, permits from health and foreign affairs departments, and embassy involvement.
The receiving funeral director must be appointed, providing extra paperwork and permits. Various documents like notary public declarations, certified translations, stamp duties, and local registrations may be required. The coffin undergoes hermetic sealing, often using heat-sealed plastic or riveted zinc, placed in a crate on a shipping pallet for airport delivery.
Flight bookings are based on weight, and available airlines are limited, with routes often passing through hubs like Dubai. Booking seats for accompanying family must be done separately through airlines. Lonergan & Raven's repatriation package starts at $5950, with costs rising to $7950 or more based on complexity.
Additional expenses may include a Melbourne church service, typically adding $2000 plus associated fees.

Many people, particularly those of working age, may have death or funeral insurance included in their Superannuation policies. (AustralianSuper, Cubs, etc.) Standard benefits may be around the $200,000 mark, which is particularly helpful for the family when dealing with the death of someone of working age.
Lonergan & Raven can arrange a free no obligation investigation to see if your loved one had any such entitlement, and has an arrangement with AFRM Claims Advocacy should you need assistance with processing these claims.
