Flight and Embassy Costs must be quoted separately
How much a repatriation costs depends both on where to, and on how heavy the total package being shipped is.

First there are the Embassy requirements, which can range from an email permission for countries like Ireland (costing nothing); to translated documents with Embassy stamp duties, Notary Public stamps, and Department of Foreign Affairs 'Postitles' (perhaps $400 - $800 all up) for places like India or Greece; to having the Embassy send someone to inspect the documents and seal the coffin with wax seals and embassy stamps (maybe $2,000 or more) for places like Italy or Cuba.

Secondly there are the flights themselves, which are charged by the weight transported. A light deceased in a light coffin, in a cardboard shipping box, on a simple pallet might be only $1,500 to $2,000, even to Europe or Africa. Whereas a heavy person, in an oversized casket, with a metal lining, in a solid crate, might be $3,500, even to a Pacific or Indian Ocean destination.

These prices must be quoted individually.

Fine print...

These packages are designed to include everything that is necessary for a basic funeral, with no hidden extras.  Although families may choose to deduct elements like newspaper notices or flowers from the package to reduce the cost.

Standard Packages (excluding delivery only service) include:   Business hours transfer (value $330); basic mortuary care ($240); dedicated director for arrangement, liason, bookings, funeral and follow up - 8-12 hours; administration – 4-8 hours; men and vehicles for the service – 2, 3 or 4 staff and 2 vehicles for 4 - 5 hours each (total services fee averaged to $3300); simple viewing at the time of the service ($240); medical certificates ($56.65); certified Death Certificate ($32.80); funeral notice (15-18 lines - $200) and on-line notice ($100); church or chapel fees ($200-$250), clergy ($250-$325) or celebrant’s fees ($450-$650), car for family ($240), memorial book ($35), and 1.2m casket sheaf ($200).  Also included in most packages is a simple Craftwood coffin ($750) – shown below - but have other coffin and casket options available.

These services are offered as ‘standardised packages’ at a 5%-8% discount on charging all the items independently, but additions or subtractions of individual items are always possible.

This simple but elegant oak finish craftwood coffin is included in all packages. (Upgrades from $400 extra.)

(The cemetery prices are hugely variable and must be individually quoted.)

(Repatriation packages do not include fees in the destination country, which must be individually quoted.)

There are of course many other optional extra's that could be chosen which would increase the price: more newspaper notices; musicians for the service; bigger flowers; embalming and dressing; better coffin; extra cars or limousines; extra viewings, vigils or rosary's; memorial DVD's; service booklets or memorial cards; catering; and so on... the optional extra's are practically endless.

But none of those extra's are vital to a standard funeral service. Complete services can invariably be done for the prices quoted above, with absolutely no need for anything not included in the packages.

(Please note however that all prices quoted remain open to modification depending on unexpected price changes by cemeteries or our suppliers.)
